Winter Trees

Bare limbs
reach for the sky
unbowed by winter chill,
steadfast in the knowledge that spring
will come.

(Oh to be a winter tree!)

Weightless In The Wind

A leaf
floats gently by
moving in harmony
with shifting currents - I watch with
envy.

The Edge

Walking
the rocky edge
of a yawning black pit
that hungrily awaits just one
false step.

Over the winter glaciers,
I see the summer glow,
And, through the wild-piled snowdrift,
The warm rosebuds below.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
